How to play Hamster Mining Co.
Run your own mine. Tap the wheel to mine coins (Space or Enter work too). Then spend the coins on things that mine for you:
- Hire Hamster
- Upgrade GPU
- Get More Power
- Moon Facility
Each one costs a little more every time you buy it. Your hamsters keep mining while you are away, for up to two hours, and the mine is saved in your browser for next time.
The halving and the 21 million cap
Like Bitcoin, only 21 million coins can ever be mined. Each time half of what is left has been mined, every reward halves: taps, hamsters and machines alike. The game tells you when the next halving comes. Mine all 21 million and you reach the point Bitcoin gets to around the year 2140. After that, miners live on fees.
What you learn
Two words from the Cryptominium crypto library, each with a link to its full page: mining, and the halving. Bitcoin's block reward halves about every four years, on schedule.
Is Hamster Mining Co. free?
Yes, with nothing to buy. The coins exist only in the game.
Can I start over?
Yes. Press "Start a new mine". Your hamsters and coins go, and you begin again from zero.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Tap the wheel and the shop buttons.
Is this real mining?
No. Nothing real is mined on your device, and nothing about you is sent anywhere. It is a game, not advice.
Do I need a wallet or an account?
